Dear Faculty Members,
As it is known, during the publication incentive process, similarity (plagiarism) reports must be added to the file
for field indexed articles. During the approval of these reports by the Head of the Library and Documentation Department, it is observed that some articles have a high similarity rate. According to our incentive system,
the PDF files of the published versions of the articles are analyzed in
iThenticate,
Turnitin or
intihal.net similarity scanning tools. In these analyses, the similarity rate increases as the time elapsed since the publication of the article increases. In order for our faculty members not to be victimized, it is recommended that the similarity reports be obtained as soon as the articles are published and downloaded and added to the application file.
In summary,
it would be beneficial for you to get your reports immediately to ensure that the similarity remains at 20% or below. You can also submit your application later. In short, it is important to obtain reports from the newly published versions of the articles before Google indexes the sites and increases the similarities.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
When getting the similarity report, the following should be taken into consideration:
1)
REFERENCES, ABSTRACT and METHODOLOGY / MATERIAL can be excluded from the filters and settings section of the
iThenticate system. Quotations and other similarities should not be excluded. This system does not store in the archive. T
his system does not measure artificial intelligence (AI) contributions.
2)
REFERENCES can be excluded in the
Turnitin system. Quotations and other similarities should not be excluded. When uploading a document to this system, the
"Do not store the submitted papers" option should be selected in the
"Add assignments" section. Otherwise, the system saves it in the archive and may show 100% similarity in subsequent queries even if you delete the document from the screen. Requests sent through the system for archive cleaning are evaluated. To do this, you can click on the
"View" tab on the line of the relevant document in the Turnitin system, and then follow the
Options >>> Request permanent deletion path on the page that opens, and forward the document to the system administrator to delete it from the archive. The file will be deleted from the archive. If the file has been saved to the repository, deleting it from the screen will not work. Please do not delete the files from your screens before the incentive process is completed.
This system also measures the artificial intelligence (AI) contributions of English texts.
3)
REFERENCES can be excluded in the
intihal.net system. Quotations and other similarities should not be excluded.
